What to Expect

AVA's coaching program is led by Raquel Mullins — a Chattanooga-based multi-disciplinary artist, curator, and educator with over a decade of experience navigating the professional art world as a working artist. Learn more about Raquel below! Coaching sessions are individualized and shaped around your goals. Depending on where you are in your practice, sessions may cover:

  • Portfolio and website reviews

  • Artist statements and CVs

  • Pricing and commissions

  • Career planning and long-term strategy

  • Navigating exhibitions, grants, and residencies

Rate:

$100 per hour (member rate)

$150 per hour (non-member rate)

Meet your Artist Coach, Raquel Mullins

Raquel Mullins is a multi-disciplinary artist, curator, educator, and mother based in Chattanooga, TN. Her artistic practice focuses on themes of mothering and domestic life in the American South. In 2021 Raquel founded the artist-run gallery space, Wavelength Space. Wavelength Space, based in Chattanooga, TN, hosts themed, group exhibitions of contemporary art from emerging to mid-career artists nationwide. Raquel serves as director/curator for Wavelength and collaborates with Threshold collective to exhibit her work nationally. Her current curatorial research investigates how Southern geographical placement, histories, and influences shape artistic identity, world building, and perception. Mullins received a BS in Art Education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2012 and an MFA in Studio Art from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2018. She periodically serves as an adjunct faculty member at UT Chattanooga.
