Drawing, painting, sculpture, collage and printmaking are just a few of the exciting art activities children will experience this summer.

AVA’s Art Camp offers eight weeklong camps led by professional artists that cover a range of topics in 2-D and 3-D art. A variety of age-appropriate classes (ages 4-5, 6-7, 8-9, 10-11), each with a different focus, are offered throughout the summer.

Creature Creatures / Ages 10-11

Doug Boals / Dennis Palmer
Using found objects and brightly colored paint, children will create sculptures and explore various assemblage and painting techniques.

Session 2 / June 13-17
Who am I? An artist! / Ages 8-9

Eric Keller / Stacy Alverson
Utilizing printmaking and painting techniques, children will learn about color and composition by illustrating their imagination and exploring the art of portraits.

Session 3 / June 20-24
Picture This / Ages 6-7

Sarah Cardillo Nichols / Doug Boals
Students will learn about the magic of color, collage, painting and found object sculpture.

Session 4 / June 27-July 1
Mini Masters / Ages 4-5

Anna Louise Haynes Myers
Children will be introduced to various master artists throughout history and will get a chance to create
their own masterpieces.

Session 5 / July 11-15
Express Yourself! / Ages 10-11

Kimmerlen Moore / Dennis Palmer
Participants will learn creative strategies to express themselves utilizing the principles of design and the elements of visual language.

Session 6 / July 18-22
Expressions and Impressions / Ages 8-9

Learn all about the wonder of color through a series of hands-on activities focused on self-expression.

Session 7 / July 25-29
Combo Critters / Ages 6-7

Anna Louise Haynes Myers / Dennis Palmer
Using paint, sculpture and collage, children will use their imagination to create unique creatures to tell a story through art.

Session 8 / August 1-5
Explorations in Creativity / Ages 4-5

Maria Cardillo
This session will introduce children to the fundamentals of the visual language, such as line, color and shape, and teach students how to speak through images.
