ART SPEAK is an on-going informal lecture series designed to stimulate dialogue among artists and art, while advocating relevant topics in the visual arts. This year’s theme is: Current Exploration of Contemporary Art and its Impact on Culture. Participating artists and arts professionals are being asked to explore the notion of relevance, irreverence and opulence and how such concepts pertain to contemporary art. In a larger sense, we are asking participants to speak to the impact that the art world is having on culture, and in turn, how work being created today reflects contemporary society. Is there a common thread? Has our field of vision shifted, and how has our perception of our surrounding environment changed?
