Using their artwork as a means to communicate, artists have always taken the lead on speaking about issues that are important to our collective well-being. AVA’s Community Arts Program helps to make this happen in Chattanooga. Partnering with other organizations, we put together calls for art around broader social topics.
For two years, AVA has assisted the CHATTANOOGA NEIGHBORHOOD ENTERPRISE, http://www.cneinc.org/, on a video contest for area neighborhoods, with the winning entry receiving a cash prize. Open to any neighborhood in the greater Chattanooga area. We have had great fun with this project.
We worked with RIVER ROCKS and WILD TRAILS for a call for sculpture made from fallen wood on Stringers Ridge. Works were showcased at the River Rocks festival, October 5-14, 2012. (http://www.riverrockschattanooga.com/)
Artwork is currently installed on Stringers Ridge.
Partnered with the URBAN LEAGUE OF GREATER CHATTANOOGA (http://www.ulchatt.net/) for the creation of 2D art work around the concept of "Inclusion by Design," the theme of the 30th year of the Urban League in Chattanooga.
AVA and FACES have partnered for FACES UnMasked for two years in a row. The organization (http://www.faces-cranio.org/) assists those who are impacted by cranio-facial disorders.
If your organization is interested in partnering with AVA for a community arts project, please contact Anne Willson at email@example.com.
