Community Arts

Using their artwork as a means to communicate, artists have always taken the lead on speaking about issues that are important to our collective well-being. AVA’s Community Arts Program helps to make this happen in Chattanooga. Partnering with other organizations, we put together calls for art around broader social topics.

Happening Now

We're currently working with the CHATTANOOGA NEIGHBORHOOD ENTERPRISE, http://www.cneinc.org/, on a video contest for area neighborhoods, with the winning entry receiving a cash prize. Open to any neighborhood in the greater Chattanooga area.  We had great fun with this project last year, glad to do it again.

Also working with RIVER ROCKS and WILD TRAIDS for a call for sculpture made from fallen wood on Stringers Ridge.  Works will be showcased at the River Rocks festival, October 5-14, 2012.  (http://www.riverrockschattanooga.com/)

And next up is a partnership with the URBAN LEAGE OF GREATER CHATTANOOGA (http://www.ulchatt.net/) for the creation of 2D art work around the concept of "Inclusion by Design," the theme of this 30th year of the Urban League in Chattanooga.
