Black History Month is a time to educate and celebrate, but with it being so brief it can sometimes feel rushed and overwhelming. Black Self-Portrait is an event dedicated to making time for oneself- focusing on the 3 areas of Meditation, Reflection, & Expression. On February 23rd, local professionals and artists will lead various peaceful activities in the AVA gallery while also incorporating Black History, enabling guests to relax, relate, and release.
This event will take place from 3 - 6PM. Activities include a yoga/meditation session led by Roe Lashay Yoga, a writing/poetry session led by Erika Roberts, and a self portrait art project led by Jonathan Dean. Therapist Angie Wynn will also be present to offer information and advice on mental and emotional health. Space is limited, registration is encouraged.
